Create an Album
Windows 10 doesn’t allow you to select pictures from different locations while creating your slideshow. You are only allowed to select a folder containing the wallpapers, and all the wallpapers inside it will be added in the slideshow. So first create a folder in your desired location, and move all the wallpapers/pictures to this folder that you would like to include in the slideshow. Make sure you don’t move any picture to this folder that you don’t want others to see, as it will be shown on your desktop.
Create a Slideshow Wallpaper in Windows 10
Now that the album is created, let’s create a slideshow out of it. Right-click anywhere on the desktop, and select “Personalize” from the context menu. Click on the drop-down menu below the “Background” option and select “Slideshow” from it.
Once slideshow is selected, you will see a “Browse” button below. Click on it and select the folder that you created in the above step. The folder will be added and applied as slideshow on your Windows desktop.
You can also change the time interval for the slides to change. Click on the drop-down menu below the “Change picture every” heading and select your preferred time (from one min to one day). It should be kept in mind that the more frequent you change the background, the more battery power it consumes. It is not much, but it still is good to know if you are on a laptop.
Shuffle the Slideshow in Windows 10
Windows 10 has removed the shuffle button from the background settings. I’m not sure what Microsoft was thinking, but I think this option is really important for a slideshow. Even if you have hundreds of wallpapers in a slideshow, it will take just a few weeks for them to become predictable and lose all their charm. If you can shuffle them, you will be surprised every time and can keep adding more wallpapers to the album/folder and easily cycle them as well. Thankfully, the shuffle option is still available in the old Control Panel of Windows 10, and you can easily enable it from there. To access these settings, press “Windows + R” to open the Run dialog and paste the below-mentioned location in it: When you click “OK,” you will be directed to the “Desktop Background” in the Control Panel. Here you will see the “Shuffle” option at the bottom; just check the option to shuffle the slideshow.
At this time you might also like to check out the “Change picture every” drop-down menu. You will see that it is much more customizable, even having an option to change the slideshow wallpaper after every ten or thirty seconds. When you are done making changes make sure you click on the “Save changes” button on the bottom-right corner to save all the changes.
